Spotted on Shorts Creator Upskilling Initiative

YouTube India is doubling down on the hyperlocal content boom with the launch of Spotted on Shorts, an exclusive eight-week upskilling program designed specifically for Indian creators.

The free initiative aims to empower digital storytellers who focus on discovering local spots, including restaurants, regional travel destinations, and community events.

Running from January to March 2026, the program offers a structured curriculum combining self-paced learning with live interactive sessions.

The program is structured as an intensive learning journey where participants can access a library of 24 videos on demand and attend eight live masterclasses or “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) sessions. These sessions will be led by top-tier creators, industry experts, and employees from Google, the parent company of YouTube.

To ensure active participation, creators must take on weekly challenges to earn digital badges, culminating in an official certification from the Google team upon successful completion.

MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, has joined the initiative as a brand partner, potentially offering creators opportunities for professional collaborations.

Participants also have the chance to win “swag” (promotional merchandise), essential creator gear, and exclusive vouchers based on their performance in the weekly challenges.

This blend of education and tangible rewards is designed to lower the barrier to entry for creators looking to turn a hobby into a professional career.

Prominent travel creator Raunaq Sahni, widely known by his digital handle Monkey Magic, is among the featured experts guiding the new cohort.

Sahni, who has amassed over 2.4 million subscribers by documenting extreme travel adventures and storytelling, will share insights on turning raw ideas into compelling vertical narratives. His involvement highlights the program’s focus on high-quality production and strategic audience growth for the Shorts format.

To be eligible for the ‘Spotted on Shorts’ program, applicants must have an active YouTube channel or start one before applying and must be free of any active strikes.

The program is managed end-to-end by Communique Marketing Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a veteran Delhi-based marketing agency and official Google partner. Applications for the current cycle are open through January 18, 2026, with the first official lessons scheduled to begin on January 20.
