YouTube breakout star and aspiring professional golfer Kai Trump has revealed the unique struggles of building an independent identity while living under the constant protection of the U.S. Secret Service.

In a candid interview on the popular “IMPAULSIVE” podcast with internet personality and WWE Superstar Logan Paul, the 18-year-old creator discussed her rapid ascent in the digital space and her deliberate choice to distance herself from the polarising world of politics.

The appearance marked a significant crossover moment in the creator economy, as Kai transitioned from a long-time fan of Paul to a peer in the industry.

Kai, the eldest granddaughter of President-elect Donald Trump, told Paul that dating as a teenager in her position is incredibly awkward due to her security detail. She explained that even during intimate moments, armed agents are required to stand just a few feet away.

While she acknowledged their necessity for her safety, she noted that the lack of privacy is a major hurdle in maintaining a normal Gen Z social life.

The conversation shifted to her strategy for content creation and brand safety. Despite her family’s dominance in the political arena, Kai emphasised that she stays out of politics completely to avoid being radicalised by social media algorithms.

She expressed a desire to see both sides of the political spectrum meet in the middle, noting that the extreme division online is dangerous. By focusing her content on golf and lifestyle rather than political commentary, she is attempting to build a fanbase that transcends party lines.

Paul, who co-founded the hydration brand Prime, shared a “full circle” moment during the episode by revealing a direct message Kai sent him on Instagram in 2020. In the message, a then 14-year-old Kai expressed her fandom and took a playful jab at Paul’s boxing rival, KSI.

The segment highlighted the accessibility of modern celebrities and how quickly the gap between fan and creator can close in the current digital ecosystem.

Beyond her YouTube channel, which has amassed over 1.4 million subscribers, Kai is focused on a career in professional sports. She recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I golf for the University of Miami, a top-tier athletic program.

She told Paul that her ultimate goal is to become the number one female golfer in the world, using her social media platforms to document her training and competitive journey rather than relying solely on her surname for relevance.

Kai Trump burst onto the creator scene in 2024, leveraging a viral vlog from the Republican National Convention to jumpstart her YouTube career. She is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump and has become a fixture in the “Golf YouTube” niche, frequently collaborating with other top sports creators.
