Bihar’s very own tech mentor, Dharmendra Kumar, the creator of the popular YouTube channel My Smart Support, is once again proving why he’s one of India’s most trusted digital educators about content creation and YouTube.

In his latest revelation, the famous YouTuber shared how YouTube’s new Shopping Affiliate Program has completely changed the way creators make money, earning him nearly 20 to 25 times more than what he made through regular ad revenue.

Known for teaching young Indians about blogging, online business, and content monetisation, Dharmendra’s journey from small-town engineer to full-time YouTuber has been nothing short of inspiring.

He launched My Smart Support in the early 2010s with a simple goal: to help youth from small towns and villages build digital careers without heavy investment.

His grounded, Hindi-language tutorials on YouTube SEO, affiliate marketing, and product reviews quickly connected with audiences who wanted practical learning in their own language.

Today, the channel has 1.4 million subscribers and draws over 3 million monthly views, becoming one of India’s most reliable sources for creator education.

In his October 2025 video, Dharmendra revealed eye-opening insights from his personal analytics dashboard. YouTube’s Shopping Affiliate feature, which allows creators to tag products directly in their videos, has given him record-breaking results.

He explained that for one video with just 2,000 views, he earned about $25, and surprisingly, $23 came from affiliate commissions, while ads contributed only $1-2.

In another case, a Shorts video with 1.5 million views generated ₹1 lakh (around $1,200) from affiliate sales, compared to just $10 in ad income.

The reason? Viewers are now able to directly buy products shown in a video, such as microphones, gadgets, and home appliances, by clicking on the tagged links below.

Dharmendra said that categories like tech accessories and home gadgets perform best, while platforms like Myntra and Nykaa offer exceptionally high commissions, reaching up to 50% on certain products.

YouTube’s Shopping Affiliate Program, which expanded across India in 2025, is currently available for creators with at least 10,000 subscribers. The feature allows them to tag up to 60 products in long videos and 20 in Shorts, earning commissions when a viewer clicks and makes a purchase within seven days.

The earnings are automatically credited via AdSense within 60–120 days. However, Kumar cautioned that creators must follow the platform’s rules, products must be visibly featured or discussed in the video, and fake or misleading promotions could lead to a permanent ban from the program.

For Dharmendra, this program has been a financial breakthrough. He now earns $100–$150 daily from affiliate tagging alone, matching what most creators earn from over 100,000 daily ad views. His affiliate revenue per thousand views (RPM) is an impressive $10-$15, compared to just $0.5-$1 from ads.

“Bloggers used to make money from links. Now YouTubers can too, without needing a website,” he said in the video, emphasising how creators should focus on useful product-based content instead of chasing viral trends.

He believes this shift can empower thousands of small YouTubers across India, especially those with audiences under 50,000, to earn sustainably by sharing genuine product recommendations.

From roadside salesmen and vloggers to affiliate marketing pros, creators like Dharmendra Kumar are redefining what financial independence looks like on YouTube. His success with the Shopping Affiliate Program is not just about higher income; it’s about smart content strategy, authenticity, and helping a new generation of Indian creators earn big, even with small view counts.
