Jharkhand is stepping into the spotlight of India’s digital age with a first-of-its-kind initiative that blends social media influence with tourism promotion. On World Tourism Day 2025, the state unveiled its Influencer Engagement Program 2025, a campaign designed to put Jharkhand’s forests, hills, culture, and tribal heritage onto the global stage.
The idea is simple: partner with creators across digital platforms and reward them handsomely for producing authentic content that captures the heart of Jharkhand.
At the centre of this program is the brand name “Johar Influencers”, run by the Jharkhand Tourism Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Art, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs.
Whether you are posting travel vlogs on YouTube, food reels on Instagram, or storytelling threads on X, the government wants you to turn your lens on Jharkhand’s beauty.
And the rewards? Substantial. The scheme is split into four categories.
- Nano Influencers: Up to 3,00,000 per annum
- Micro Influencers: Up to 5,00,000 per annum
- Macro Influencers: Up to 7,00,000 per annum
- Mega Influencers: Up to 10,00,000 per annum
Payments will be made quarterly, and creators will be selected based on the quality, engagement, and impact of their content, not just on follower numbers.
The program is open to any content creator residing in India, provided they have an active presence on at least one major platform.
If you are a social media influencer, then you can apply for the Jharkhand Government’s Influencer program by sending an email to jharkhand.influencer.program@gmail.com
Applicants are encouraged to highlight themes such as wildlife, tribal festivals, historic sites, adventure tourism, crafts, folk art, food, and spirituality.
Authorities have emphasised that innovation and impactful storytelling will carry extra weight in the selection process. Creators will also be expected to follow official campaign guidelines and, in some cases, travel to tourism spots for content shoots.
To make the experience more rewarding, the state is also offering a range of perks. Influencers will enjoy complimentary stays at government accommodations while on assignment, logistical support at chosen tourism sites, and access to exclusive workshops and events.
Their content may also be featured across Jharkhand’s official tourism channels, giving them visibility far beyond their own platforms.
Among the destinations the government hopes to spotlight are Betla National Park, Netarhat Hills, Baidyanath Dham, Parasnath, Trikut, Lugu Buru, and the Maluti temples.
Creators are also being asked to bring alive the colours of tribal festivals like Sarhul, Sohrai, and Karma, traditions that have long defined Jharkhand’s cultural calendar but often remain under-represented in mainstream travel content.
Officials believe the campaign will create a ripple effect: influencers benefit through career growth and income, while the state gains fresh exposure to domestic and international tourists.
The initiative also promises a boost for local communities, as handicrafts, traditional food, and folk heritage get the kind of recognition that can translate into sustainable livelihoods and cultural pride.
In short, Jharkhand is betting big on the digital storytelling revolution. By giving content creators both freedom and financial backing, the state is making tourism a shared project, one that blends authentic local voices with global reach.
For influencers, it’s a dream opportunity: a chance to travel, create, and connect with millions, all while being paid generously. For Jharkhand, it’s a leap forward in reimagining tourism for a generation that lives online.
