Abhishek Reddy, better known online as Silly Sensei, used to have what many people dream of: a high-paying creative job, big responsibilities, and a fast-paced city life. But in 2024, he realised something wasn’t right. Working 15-hour days as a branding designer and creative professional in Hyderabad, earning around ₹1.5 crore per annum, he felt trapped in a cycle of stress.

Burnout had become his constant companion. Eventually, at just 22, he walked away. He bought a farm in Obulapuram village near Pamidi, Andhra Pradesh, to begin a new chapter, one that is rooted in soil, sustainability, and simple joys.

Silly Sensei didn’t make this switch in secret. Instead, he documented each part of his journey, always open about mistakes, learning curves, and the messy reality of building something meaningful.

He shares his farming experiments, DIY hacks, and honest farm fails on Instagram, where his content, quirky, educational, and genuine, has gathered more than 700,000 followers. His early videos show everything from organic manure to harvesting first crops, making rural life both relatable and appealing to city dwellers.

What sets Abhishek apart is not just what he does but why. He often reflects on mental health, disillusionment with corporate norms, and the desire to live with intention. Farming for him isn’t just growing vegetables; it’s growing a life that fits, balancing profit with purpose.

He has built the farm with his mother and sister, and his designs draw on permaculture principles: planting mango, guava, jackfruit trees, working water catchments, compost, bees, and ground cover plants to heal the soil.

There are challenges. Farming isn’t immediately profitable. He admits that monetising the farm properly, turning it into a business that supports everyone involved, takes time.

But his goals are clear: make the farm sustainable financially, environmentally, and socially. His sister, Aishwarya (an IIT Kharagpur graduate), is planning to move from the city to help with this venture.

Abhishek’s story has resonated with many, especially those tired of burnout and chasing status. His content has inspired people to reconsider what “success” means.

For him, it’s not about having the highest salary; it’s about waking up with peace, doing work you believe in, and connecting with the land and people around you.

In 2025, Silly Sensei is more than just a farmfluencer: he’s a reminder that quitting the race isn’t failure, it can be the beginning of something richer.

His legacy so far: teaching thousands that life can be slower, greener, and more real and showing that courage is often found in choosing meaning over more.
