Anubhav Singh Bassi isn’t your typical comedian, he’s the guy who turned life’s mess into pure entertainment. Born on January 9, 1991, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Bassi’s journey from a confused law graduate to one of India’s biggest stand-up stars is nothing short of remarkable.

Known for his conversational storytelling and sharp Hindi humor, he captures the essence of growing up middle-class in India, confused about careers, failing forward, and laughing through it all.

Before he made millions laugh, Bassi was chasing serious careers. He graduated with a BA LLB from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, in 2015.

Like many Indian students, he experimented with everything, law, UPSC prep, and even entrepreneurship, but none of it stuck. Every attempt ended in frustration, but it was that same frustration that later became the punchline of his shows.

His first brush with stand-up came in 2017 at an open mic, where his casual, storytelling style instantly connected with young audiences. Talking about law school chaos, failed startups, and college friendships, Bassi’s humor felt like listening to a friend retell his worst days with a grin.

Two years later, in 2019, he uploaded “Cheating” on YouTube, a set that exploded online, earning over 8 crore views and catapulting him into the big league of Indian stand-up.

From there, Bassi’s rise was unstoppable. He performed live across more than 35 cities in India and abroad, selling out auditoriums and building a loyal fan base.

His first stand-up special, Bas Kar Bassi, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2023, blending nostalgia, truth, and pure chaos in his signature laid-back tone. That same year, he made his Bollywood debut in Luv Ranjan’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, playing Manu Dabbas alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

He also showed his acting chops in Comedy Couple on ZEE5 and Hostel Daze on Amazon, proving he could make people laugh both on stage and on screen. By 2025, he took on a new challenge, hosting 7 Days Live on JioHotstar, a unique reality show featuring social media creators battling for virality.

Success hasn’t come without drama. In early 2025, his Lucknow live shows stirred controversy after local authorities cancelled them over complaints about “inappropriate language” and jokes about women.

Bassi responded calmly, defending his humor as an honest reflection of everyday life, sparking wider debates about creative freedom in comedy. Despite the noise, his popularity only grew, showing how audiences continue to relate to his unfiltered take on modern Indian chaos.

Behind the laughter lies a sharp business sense. Bassi earns through multiple avenues, YouTube ads, sold-out live tours, OTT specials, acting gigs, brand collaborations, and now reality show hosting.

His social media following, especially on Instagram (@be_a_bassi), brings in additional sponsorships and merchandise deals. Each platform adds to his growing empire, proving that stand-up comedy today is not just art but a thriving digital business.

What sets Bassi apart is his authenticity. His stories about “Ambulance,” “UPSC,” and “Lift” don’t just make people laugh, they remind them they’re not alone in failing, struggling, or figuring life out. He’s not the perfect hero but the relatable friend who’s been there, done that, and made a joke out of it.
