Bhutanese Travel Vlogger Annu Sia Returns to YouTube After 2-Year Hiatus

Bhutanese travel vlogger Anusha, known online as Annu Sia, has returned to YouTube after a break of more than two years, revealing a debilitating battle with depression and a failed attempt to emigrate to Canada.

In a raw sit-down video, the creator who built a loyal Indian fanbase by vlogging in Hindi explained that financial instability and mental health struggles forced her to step away from her channel of nearly 2 lakh subscribers.

The vlogger, who had been working in Dubai, disclosed that her disappearance began after a planned move to Canada fell apart. Annu Sia stated she had applied for a student visa to British Columbia but withdrew the application after realising she could only afford two semesters of tuition.

Citing changing immigration rules and a lack of financial support, she described the decision to give up her “dream of studying there” as the catalyst for a severe depressive episode.

“I felt like a failure,” Annu Sia said in the video, admitting that her mental health deteriorated to the point where she stopped socialising and neglected basic self-care for weeks at a time.

She revealed that she would often go days without leaving her room, only stepping out for her corporate job in Dubai.

The creator credited her recovery to adopting her cat, Milo, and the support of her partner, popular Indian travel vlogger Deepanshu Sangwan, known as Nomadic Indian.

She noted that Sangwan and his family encouraged her during her lowest points. “Deepanshu was always by my side,” she said, adding that the responsibility of caring for a pet gave her a renewed sense of purpose.

Now back in Bhutan after resigning from her job in Dubai in late 2025, Annu Sia announced she is currently unemployed but “building something” she has always wanted to do.

While she admitted to feeling “uncomfortable” and lacking confidence in front of the camera after such a long break, she confirmed plans to resume travel vlogging this year.

Annu Sia launched her channel in 2015 and gained popularity among Indian audiences for her unique perspective as a Bhutanese national creating Hindi-language travel content.

Before her long break, she was known for vlogging solo trips across the Philippines, Russia, and the Middle East. Her channel currently sits at 192,000 subscribers.
