Popular Indian video editor and lifestyle vlogger Joyes Dass, known to his 450K subscribers as DilliKaLadka, released a comprehensive video detailing a three-year financial and emotional breakdown that led to his recent four-month disappearance from social media.
The creator revealed that a high-interest home loan taken in 2023 exhausted his life savings and forced him into a cycle of asset liquidation, including the sale of essential production equipment and personal jewelry.
Dass, who has been active in the creator economy for 10 years, attributed his mental health struggles to the mounting pressure of EMIs and the loss of his creative identity while living in isolation in Ghaziabad.
The financial crisis began when Joyes invested all his savings into a new property while simultaneously taking on significant debt from relatives and banks.
He explained that the initial costs of the home, including legal fees and MSME registration for his business, depleted his six-month emergency fund. This left him living “cut to cut,” where his monthly earnings were entirely consumed by debt repayment.
Under extreme financial duress, the creator began selling his “assets” to survive. He sold his GoPro camera for 22,500 rupees to settle an immediate debt and later sold a high-end Sigma lens just to cover a single month of home loan payments.
He even attempted to sell his car through various valuation platforms but decided against it after receiving offers lower than his expectations.
The creator also spoke candidly about the loss of his “spark” or creative drive. He noted that when a creator loses interest in their favourite activity, in his case, video editing and filming, it is a significant indicator of deeper psychological distress.
To bridge the financial gap, Joyes applied for corporate video editing roles in 2025, attending interviews in Delhi where he faced the internal conflict of being recognized by fellow employees while feeling a total loss of professional confidence.
Aspiring creators should note that he highlighted the dangers of seeking “validation” before achieving a goal.
He explained that sharing plans prematurely can lead to a premature dopamine hit, which often reduces the actual drive needed to complete the task.
He advised his audience to keep projects private until they are finalized to maintain the necessary energy for execution.
Despite the setbacks, Joyes Dass documented several recent “wins” to signal his comeback. He successfully returned to high-end freelance editing work for government and corporate clients, using the proceeds to make a pre-payment on his home loan.
He also announced the purchase of an iPhone 16 and a return to physical fitness, marking a transition from a period of “darkness” to a more disciplined content schedule.
DilliKaLadka first gained prominence in the Indian YouTube community in late 2016, specializing in high-quality video editing tutorials and cinematic vlogs.
His channel has amassed over 3.9 crore total views, with his most popular content focusing on his journey as a self-taught editor and freelancer.
Having moved away from his home base in Delhi for several years, he concluded his update by confirming plans to relocate back to South Delhi to be closer to his creative community.
