Abhishek Malhan Details Survival Challenges in New Reality Show Tribeverse

Popular gaming creator and reality television star Abhishek Malhan revealed the intense physical and cultural challenges behind his latest hosting venture, Tribeverse.

Malhan, widely recognized by his digital moniker Fukra Insaan, shared that the upcoming reality show on the JioHotstar platform required 16 prominent content creators to abandon their urban comforts to survive alongside the Konyak tribe in Nagaland.

The project marks a significant shift for the creator, who rose to national prominence as the runner-up on the second season of Bigg Boss OTT, a popular Indian version of the Dutch reality franchise Big Brother.

The production of Tribeverse involved navigating a lifestyle completely removed from the digital age, forcing participants to engage in tribal tasks, survival challenges, and authentic cultural immersion.

Malhan admitted that despite his personal preference for luxury, the experience of living without standard amenities like proper bathrooms or air conditioning was eye-opening.

He noted that the show features a diverse cast of internet personalities, including dancers and social media influencers with millions of followers, who had to adapt to a world where their online status held no currency.

Addressing the economics of his digital empire, Malhan explained that his primary YouTube channel often operates at a financial loss due to massive production overheads.

He described himself as a Robin Hood figure of the creator economy, earning revenue through OTT hosting gigs and brand deals to fund elaborate YouTube projects.

One such project involved discovering a talented individual in a slum and investing in his professional development to turn him into a viral rapper, providing him with recording sessions and a music video.

Malhan also touched upon his international aspirations and connections within the global creator community. He cited Logan Paul, an American media personality and professional wrestler, as a major influence on his career philosophy of experimenting with different creative fields between the ages of 18 and 25.

Malhan confirmed that he maintains active friendships with global YouTube icons MrBeast and KSI, though he noted that Paul has recently become more reserved following personal life changes. These relationships reflect his ambition to bridge the gap between Indian content and the global YouTube stage.

Aspiring creators can learn from Malhan’s perspective on the current state of the platform, where he emphasized the importance of high-quality visuals and “value-based” content to stand out in a saturated market.

He highlighted that while the algorithm has made long-form growth more difficult, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels offer massive reach for new creators.

Malhan currently manages multiple channels with a combined following exceeding 10 million subscribers, placing him among the top tier of Indian digital entertainers.

Despite his massive success and ability to afford high-end luxury items, Malhan revealed that his father plays a central role in managing his finances and curbing impulsive spending.

He shared anecdotes about being talked out of purchasing a 1.5 crore rupee watch and high-end perfumes, opting instead for a simpler lifestyle focused on long-term stability. This grounded approach is part of his broader vision to empower 100 new creators before he retires, ensuring that his legacy in the Indian creator economy extends beyond his own viewership numbers.
