Gaurav Garg, the founder of the popular government exam preparation platform StudyIQ, has announced his departure from the company effective immediately. The move comes roughly three years after ed-tech giant Adda247 acquired his startup in a major consolidation deal.

Garg, who has served as the managing director during this transition period, shared the news with his followers on social media, marking the end of an 11-year journey in the education sector.

In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Garg revealed that he had been assisting the parent company, Metis Eduventures, which operates as Adda247, with the integration process since December 2021.

He noted that his role as managing director has now concluded, and he leaves the organisation with thousands of pleasant memories.

The educator expressed gratitude to the community that supported him since he founded the platform in January 2015. He emphasised his hope that the brand continues its objective of providing affordable quality education to students across India.

Garg also extended his best wishes to Adda247 founders Anil Nagar and Saurabh Bansal as they take full control of the brand’s operations. This handover signifies the final step in the merger between the two educational powerhouses.

Regarding his future endeavours, Gaurav Garg remained tight-lipped but promised to keep his audience updated.

The creator economy closely watches such exits, as founders often pivot to new ventures, consultancy, or angel investing after their contractual vesting periods conclude.

StudyIQ Education stands as a titan in the Indian ed-tech landscape, particularly renowned for its YouTube channel, which boasts over 17 million subscribers.

The platform specialises in UPSC and state PSC preparation, capitalising on the massive demand for government jobs in India.

Adda247 acquired StudyIQ in late 2021 for approximately $20 million (around 150 crores) in a cash and stock deal. At the time, the acquisition was viewed as a strategic move to capture the high-intent UPSC segment, solidifying Adda247’s position as a Google-backed leader in the test preparation market.
