YouTube sensation and teenage influencer Salish Matter has signed a comprehensive three-year talent deal with streaming giant Netflix to develop and star in a series of original projects.
The 16-year-old creator, who rose to fame through high-energy challenges and lifestyle vlogs, will collaborate with her father, professional photographer and filmmaker Jordan Matter, to produce scripted, unscripted, and animated content.
This strategic partnership, announced in February 2026, marks one of the most significant moves by a major streaming platform to bridge the gap between digital-first creators and traditional long-form entertainment.
The agreement is structured as a talent deal rather than a traditional development deal, providing the Matters with significant creative control over their upcoming projects.
Over the next three years, the duo is expected to produce three to four original shows specifically designed to resonate with the younger Gen Z audience.
Jordan Matter noted that while Netflix will provide production resources and professional showrunners, the core “playful” essence of their YouTube content will remain central to the new shows.
Unlike typical licensing deals where a platform simply buys the rights to existing videos, this partnership focuses on creating entirely new Intellectual Property (IP).
The projects will “rhyme” with the duo’s existing content, which often features 24-hour challenges and guest appearances from other major celebrities.
Jordan Matter emphasized that the deal allows for longer production timelines, giving them weeks to film episodes that would typically be rushed into a single day for their weekly YouTube uploads.
The move comes as Netflix continues to compete aggressively with YouTube for the attention of younger viewers. By signing the Matter family, Netflix gains access to an audience that has already demonstrated immense real-world loyalty.
In late 2025, a launch event for Salish Matter’s skincare brand, Sincerely Yours, reportedly drew over 80,000 fans to the American Dream Mall in New Jersey, forcing the facility to shut down due to the sheer volume of attendees.
Jordan Matter, 59, originally established his career as a New York Times bestselling author and dance photographer before transitioning to YouTube in 2011.
His channel has since grown to over 34 million subscribers, generating more than 13 billion total views through formats like the 10-Minute Photo Challenge.
Salish Matter has similarly become a global icon for teenagers, currently holding the number one most popular ranking on the website Famous Birthdays, a digital encyclopedia that tracks the popularity of social media influencers and celebrities.
