Abhinav Pandey, a popular journalist earlier associated with The Lallantop, announced his departure from the Digital Hindi news platform on August 13, after serving as Associate Editor for nearly three years. He confirmed his resignation, and just two days later, unveiled his independent media venture, News Pinch, on August 15, 2025, aligning the launch with India’s Independence Day.

Abhinav Pandey, a known face in Hindi digital journalism, revealed that he is moving on from mainstream media to build his own independent news and storytelling platform. His new initiative, News Pinch, is designed to operate across multiple digital channels, including a YouTube channel, website, and mobile app.

The announcement of his exit came on August 13, while the official launch of News Pinch took place on August 15. Though based in India, the platform aims to reach a pan-India digital audience, offering content designed for today’s online-first readers and viewers.

Explaining the motivation behind this move, Pandey shared an inspirational quote from writer Amir Kajalbaash: “Mere junoon ka natija zarur niklega, essi syah samadar se noor niklega” (the result of my passion will surely emerge; even from dark times, light will shine).

He further noted that friends and well-wishers encouraged him to continue pursuing truth in journalism regardless of any situation.

News Pinch has been co-founded by Pandey along with Saurabh Tripathi and Vinay Sultan. The platform intends to use digital-first strategies to bring independent journalism directly to audiences, bypassing traditional media barriers. Through short-form and long-form storytelling, the founders plan to offer diverse coverage while maintaining editorial independence.

During his tenure at The Lallantop, Pandey contributed significantly to digital news coverage, editorial projects, and audience engagement. His decision to branch out with News Pinch reflects a growing trend of journalists turning to entrepreneurial media ventures to retain creative and editorial freedom.

With its launch on Independence Day, News Pinch positions itself not only as a new entrant in India’s digital media space but also as a symbol of independent journalism and real storytelling in the age of filtered news.
