StudyIQ Head of Media Amrit Upadhyay Resigns After Four-Year Tenure

Amrit Upadhyay, the former Head of Media and Chief Academic Officer at the edtech powerhouse StudyIQ IAS, announced his official departure from the organisation.

Upadhyay, who became a household name among UPSC aspirants for his deep expertise in Indian Polity and current affairs, confirmed the move via a social media update.

His exit marks the end of a four-year tenure during which he helped scale the platform’s reach among Hindi-medium students across India.

The prominent educator joined the organization in April 2022 and played a pivotal role in the “mission mode” operations of the StudyIQ IAS Hindi channel.

During his time at the company, he was instrumental in developing the P2I (Prelims to Interview) Live Foundation courses and hosted popular series such as News@9 and Itihas Gawah Hai.

In his farewell message, Upadhyay described the team as a family and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take the institution to new heights.

Upadhyay’s departure is significant given his massive influence within the creator economy of Indian education, where individual teachers often command larger personal followings than the institutions they represent.

At StudyIQ, he leveraged his position to mentor over 15,000 students directly while reaching millions more through the platform’s digital ecosystem. His teaching style, focused on conceptual clarity in governance and the Constitution, made him a central figure in the competitive UPSC coaching market.

StudyIQ IAS, the platform Upadhyay is leaving, is one of India’s largest educational YouTube networks with over 20 million subscribers on its primary English channel and 2.5 million on its dedicated Hindi channel.

The company, which was acquired by the edtech unicorn Adda247 in late 2022, operates as a “Unicorn” (a startup valued at over $1 billion).

It has consistently maintained high engagement rates by providing daily news analysis and structured exam preparation content to aspirants in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

While Upadhyay has not yet detailed his next move, his use of the “new journey” hashtag has sparked speculation among his followers about a potential independent venture or a leadership role at a rival edtech firm.

For creators in the educational space, such a high-profile move often signals a shift toward “solopreneurship” or the launch of a personal brand. Upadhyay’s exit follows a broader trend of star educators in India transitioning from established platforms to building their own digital communities.
