Storyboard18 Launches Inaugural GenZ Summit to Unpack India’s Direct Spending Power

Leading Indian marketing and advertising news platform Storyboard18 announced the launch of its inaugural GenZ Summit, aimed at helping brands, marketers, and digital content creators decode the rapidly evolving purchasing habits of younger consumers.

The new flagship event arrives at a critical juncture for the domestic internet economy, as the country houses a massive demographic of younger buyers who are progressively moving away from traditional media.

The single-day event will gather industry leaders, platform executives, and internet influencers to examine how modern commerce is being redefined by algorithms, memes, and community-driven content.

According to market projections highlighted by the organizers, India is currently home to more than 37 crore Gen Z consumers.

This massive demographic cohort already drives a substantial portion of retail consumption and is expected to command nearly 1.5 lakh crore rupees, or 1.8 trillion dollars, in direct spending by 2035.

Despite this immense financial footprint, many traditional businesses continue to struggle with engaging this demographic in an authentic manner.

The upcoming conference plans to move beyond conventional marketing discussions regarding ad inventory or media buying metrics. Instead, the sessions will tackle the realities of the modern attention economy.

Panels will specifically focus on how top internet personalities have effectively turned their personal brands into media companies. Speakers will also debate why algorithms now shape product discovery far more than traditional television commercials.

For aspiring digital creators, the summit intends to shed light on how algorithms are altering shopping behaviours across the country.

Discussions will also address technical challenges like fluctuating digital reach and whether genuine audience interaction has been replaced by calculated performance.

Another major focus of the event will be the shifting geography of digital influence beyond metro cities. As vernacular and regional language content increasingly drives high user engagement, the summit will examine how non-urban audiences are dictating mainstream commercial trends.

The initiative marks the latest addition to the event portfolio managed by Storyboard18, which is a prominent news entity dedicated to tracking the advertising, media, and marketing sectors in India.
