Famed digital educator and social activist Khan Sir, known globally for his viral teaching style and massive student following, has announced the launch of a self-funded chain of affordable super-speciality hospitals in Patna.
During a featured appearance on the Figuring Out podcast hosted by Raj Shamani, the teacher revealed that his mission is to provide high-end medical diagnostics at a fraction of the market cost to prevent the rural poor from selling their land or assets for basic survival.
Khan Sir emphasised that education and healthcare are fundamental rights that should not be dictated by a patient’s bank balance.
The initiative currently includes two operational facilities in Patna with a third in immediate development, focusing on “organ-specific” care where different wings handle specialised treatments for the heart, kidneys, and skin.
Khan Sir detailed a pricing model where X-rays are provided for 35 rupees, nearly the cost of the film itself, and ECGs are priced at just 25 rupees.
He noted that these prices are intended to encourage early screening, sharing a story of a patient who discovered a life-threatening heart blockage through a routine 25-rupee test.
To ensure the highest quality of care, the educator has invested in advanced medical technology, including 3D imaging machines that help surgeons visualise blood supply to tumours.
He highlighted the acquisition of a PET-CT scanner (Positron Emission Tomography, a high-tech imaging test that looks for disease in the body), which costs approximately 16 crore rupees, and a radiation machine valued at 42 crore rupees.
Despite the high operational costs and monthly losses, Khan Sir maintains that he has not accepted any corporate donations or large-scale funding, relying instead on his personal earnings and a small 101-rupee donation from a well-wisher in Rajasthan.
The transition from education to healthcare stems from Khan Sir’s own past struggles, where he waited four years for a necessary surgery due to a lack of funds.
He criticised the current state of the sector, noting that while government hospitals often suffer from neglect, private facilities frequently exploit patients’ desperation.
By establishing these centres, he aims to break the “monopoly” of expensive healthcare and provide a model where even specialised treatments like IVF are accessible to common citizens.
Khan Sir, whose real name is often debated but who is widely recognised as the founder of Khan GS Research Centre, currently commands over 23 million subscribers on YouTube.
His platform primarily serves aspirants for competitive exams like UPSC, SSC and other competitive exams for government jobs.
His entry into the healthcare sector marks a significant expansion of his “creator-led” social impact model, moving from digital literacy to physical infrastructure in one of India’s most economically challenged regions.
