Whistleblower Rohan Mehta Accuses Top Influencers Of Ignoring MEA Corruption

Rohan Mehta, a suspended official and whistleblower from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has publicly criticized prominent Indian YouTubers and independent media outlets for failing to report on his allegations of high-level corruption and sexual harassment.

During a detailed video address, Mehta claimed that despite providing substantial evidence to top-tier creators like Dhruv Rathee and Mohak Mangal, his case has been met with a wall of silence.

The whistleblower specifically highlighted a lack of support from the creator community, which often projects itself as a voice for justice and political accountability in India.

Mehta, who has been under suspension for over a year, alleged that his attempts to reach out to the independent media ecosystem have been largely ignored.

He claimed to have contacted several high-profile figures, including news personalities like Ravish Kumar and social media commentators such as Akash Banerjee and Samdish Bhatia.

According to Mehta, these individuals and outlets, many of whom are known for critiquing the current administration, have failed to amplify his claims regarding financial irregularities and a rape-murder case linked to the ministry in Bangladesh.

The whistleblower voiced specific frustrations with Dhruv Rathee, one of India’s most influential political YouTubers, and his head writer, Vijeta Dahiya. Mehta alleged that Dahiya, a former ministry employee himself, was fully aware of the facts regarding the Bangladesh case but chose not to act.

He further criticised the creators for what he described as a “business-first” approach to political content, suggesting that some influencers only cover topics that guarantee high engagement or revenue through product sales, such as Rathee’s AI courses.

The body of Mehta’s allegations centres on a 2024 complaint he filed while serving in the MEA, which he claims led to systematic harassment and his eventual suspension. He has called for personal damages to be paid by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Foreign Secretary, insisting that the compensation should not come from taxpayer money.

Mehta also recounted a specific incident involving influencer Ranting Gola, who allegedly promised to create a video on his case during a Twitter Space, a live audio conversation feature on the X platform, but never followed through. He claimed that Gola later falsely suggested the video had been deleted by Instagram.

The whistleblower expressed concern that the silence from the creator economy sets a dangerous precedent, discouraging other civil servants from coming forward to report internal corruption or human rights violations.

The rohan.learns YouTube channel, which currently serves as the primary platform for Mehta’s updates, has seen a surge in visibility since his initial “SOS” video went viral in early 2025.

While Mehta continues to seek legal and media support, he maintains that his goal is to establish accountability within the ministry. He has previously sought assistance from political figures within the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, as well as senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, but claims he has yet to receive the public backing required to move his case forward in the national spotlight.
